It was mentioned that Maulana Harun would cough out black Goo from. Some people think that Maulana Harun was affected by Black Magic Poison, however, these accusations are baseless. The Black Goo may be a result of internal bleeding in the gastrointestinal tract. This is also known as Coffee Ground Vomitus and there are many causes for this (e.g. Cancer, stomach illness, etc).

Maulana Saad Early Education

After Maulana Saad lost his father at an early age, Maulana Saad was fostered by Haji Mumtaz from Basti Nizamuddin. He was also Maulana Saad’s Caretaker. Since women are not encouraged to go out of their houses, instead of Maulana Saad’s mother, Haji Mumtaz would be the person to bring Maulana Saad around such as to school and manage his early education.

Maulana Saad Spritiual (Tazkiyyah) Education

Due to Maulana Saad’s lineage, being the grandson of Maulana Yusuf (The second Amir of Tablighi Jamaat), Maulana Saad was always treated with a golden spoon.

Maulana Iftikharul Hasan Kandhelwi was appointed to be the spiritual guide of Maulana Saad Sahab. However, Maulana Saad did not respect him. On one occasion, he insulted him on some matter. Maulana Ihtikharul Hassan left Nizamuddin saying “Neither did his father or his grandfather ever speak to me this way”.

It is alleged that Maulana Saad achieved Khilafat (completion of spiritual education) at the age of 19. However, this is a hoax. He has never received a proper Islaahi Taaluq. Maulana Saad would get angry when people ask him who his Mursheed Sheikh is. In fact, he himself has said in a Bayan (Talk) that Islaahi Taaluq is not needed as long as people are connected to the work of Dawah.

Maulana Saad and Deoband

Maulana Saad’s ideologies have been openly criticized by Darul Uloom Deoband.

The first-ever criticism of Maulana Saad’s speech came in the form of a letter from Maulana Muhammad Ishaq Utarwi in 2001. Maulana Ishaq claimed that Maulana Saad’s manner of speech is no longer in line with how the previous elders used to deliver lectures.

On 28th November 2016, Darul Uloom Deoband issued its first stance (Mawqeef) or Fatwa on Maulana Saad.

Following the Fatwa, Maulana Saad accused Doeband of being against the work of Da’wa and started a Rujoo process. The Rujoo was incomplete and was criticized by Darul Uloom Deoband.

Due to his popularity in India, Maulana Saad is no longer interested in making amends with Darul Uloom Deoband.

Maulana Saad vs Shura Alami

Maulana Saad broke away from Main Stream Tablighi Jamaat after he violated a 1995 treaty, which he himself signed. The purpose of the treaty was to prevent leadership disputes. The treaty enforces that there should not be a single Amir for the Jamaat and that the work will run through a Shura. Maulana Saad violated the treaty by declaring himself Amir and initiating Bay’ah in Nizamuddin Markaz.

As Tablighi Jamaat is a worldwide organization, as of now the main countries that have Maulana Saad’s followers predominantly are:

  • India – We estimate about 70% of India is following Maulana Saad. The states that are more than 90% following the Shura Alami are Gujarat, Karnataka, and Kashmir. Most major cities in India will have a good 50% split between Maulana Saad vs Shura Alami but the smaller cities and villages in India are predominantly followers of Maulana Saad
  • Malaysia – We estimate about 90% are following Maulana Saad. The Main Markaz in Malaysia Sri Petaling has pledged support for Maulana Saad.
  • Indonesia – We estimate about 65% are following Maulana Saad. Indonesia is going through are reversal as more and more are coming back to the Syuro Alami (Aalami Shura in the Indonesian language), partly because of the role of great Ulamas like Maulana Abdulrahman which our Tablighi Jamaat History is based on.
  • Sri Lanka – We estimate about 90% of Sri Lanka Tablighi Members are with Maulana Saad
  • Fiji – We estimate about 90% of Fiji Tablighi Members are with Maulana Saad.

Maulana Saad Violence

Maulana Saad has used violence to enforce his Leadership in Tabligh. Since 2014, he has been employing Mewati loyalists for Markaz Security and was known to incite violence. These incidents have been recorded by Chaudhry Amaanatullah, a Mewati Insider himself.

One key event was the Ramadhan 2016 Nizamuddin Assault. On the 19th of June 2016, on the night of the 13th Ramadhan, a group of Maulana Saad’s 100-150 gangsters stormed Nizamuddin Markaz and beat anyone who was not in line with him.

14 people were rushed to the ICU including a well-respected Maulana Ahmad Madhi, who was a close companion (Khadim) of Maulana Inaamul Hassan (This third Ameer of Tabligh).

Even though it was well established that all the Mewati gang members were his loyalists, Maulana Saad denied any involvement. One particular gang member however later repented and informed that it was Maulana Saad himself who masterminded everything.

Maulana Saad Topi

Maulana Saad is known to wear a distinct Topi (Muslim religious hat), which is cylindrical in shape vs the conventional semi-spherical one. This type of Topi is best for people who keep thick hair. The Topi is usually made from breathable cotton. As Maulana Saad wears a turban, the cotton helps with breathability.
