Maulana Tariq Jameel is a famous Scholar who has been part of Tablighi Jamaat since his student days. He used to be very active going out in Jamaat, following the Tarteeb (Methodology) of Tabligh and regularly doing Gasht.
Maulana Tariq Jameel used to be close to Haji Abdul Wahab Sahab, the most senior elder of Tablighi Jamaat Worldwide. Haji Abdul Wahab Sahab, however, raised concerns about him for his social media presence.
Maulana Tariq Jameel is among the most widely followed Islamic scholars in the world
Due to social media, Maulana Tariq Jameel has become very famous, possibly the most famous Islamic Scholar in the world.
To give an idea of how famous he is, up to the present day (2025), his Youtube Channel has 8.6 million subscribers, far surpassing other Islamic Scholars such as Mufti Menk (5.8 million subscribers), Mufti Tariq Masood (4.8 million subscribers) and Zakir Naik (4.2 million subscribers).
Over time, his engagement in Tablighi Jamaat activities has slowly faded. Rasulullah SAW has warned about the dangers of fame:

Maulana Tariq Jameel still supports, promotes and associates himself with Tablighi Jamaat. He regularly attends big Ijtemas like the Raiwind Ijtema.
Although his involvement in regular Tablighi Jamaat activities has slowed down, he is still one of the biggest promoters of Tablighi Jamaat Worldwide.
Despite his fame, Maulana Tariq Jameel outwardly maintains a humble and modest attitude. This is no doubt an effect of his years of experience going out in Jamaat and enduring hardships during Gasht.

Maulana Tariq Jameel and Deoband
Maulana Tariq Jameel is part of the Deobandi School of Thought, which is the Hanafi Madhab administered by the independent institution “Darul Uloom Deoband” of India.
