5 Amal of Masjid

The 5 Amal (aka Amaal) of Masjid, is the recommended Amaal to be establish in a Masjid. This is one of the targets to establish when we go out in Jamaat to a new Masjid. The 5 Amaals consists of 3 daily Amal, 1 weekly and 1 monthly Amaal.

#1 Monthly 3-Day Jamaat

  • Each Masjid should try and establish their own 3-Day Jamaat.
  • If a Masjid is unable to produce their own Jamaat, brothers from the masjid should spend 3-days with Jamaats from other Masjid.
  • Focus should be on bringing in new brothers.

#2 Weekly Umumi Gasht

There should be two Umumi Gasht in each Masjid every week with the focus on trying to visit every muslims in the locality.

  • One Umumi Gasht should be established from ones own Masjid.
  • A second Umumi Gasht (or normally referred just as ‘Second Gasht’) should be established in a neighbouring Masjid.

#3 Daily Taleem

Two Taleems Halqas (Circles) should be established in one’s own Masjid

  • One Taleem in the Masjid.
    • The Taleem should ideally be half an hour.
    • It should be conducted at a time when all brothers are present.
    • It should ideally be conducted at the side of the Masjid so that it does not disturb brothers praying.
  • One Taleem at home
    • The home Taleem should ideally be half an hour.
    • Time should be allocated between reading the book and talking about the 6 Points (Qualities).

Commonly asked questions:

  • If out Masjid already has a Halaqa conducted by the Imam, should we still do our own Taleem?

Answer: Make Mashwara with the local Zimmedaar/Shura on the suitability of the Imaam’s program to replace Taleem. Tablighi Jamaat as a whole cannot give a blanket endorsement to all Imam Programs worldwide.
  • Must we only read the approved books by our Elders?

Answer: The approved books for Taleem are Fadhail Amaal, Riyaadus Saliheen (Original Arabic Version), Hayatus Sahaba (Original Arabic Version) and Mishkat Al Masabih (Original Arabic Version). It is known that some ‘Salafi’ inclined Masjid may have concerns reading Fadhail Amaal. In such a case, it is generally (subject to Mashwara) allowed to read the non-Arabic version of Riyaadus Saliheen in these Masjids.

#4 Daily Da’wah

It is recommended to spent 2.5 hours visiting other Muslim brothers every day. If one is not able to spend 2.5 hours, one should try to visit at least one house.

#5 Daily Mashwara

Brothers should meet daily for a short Mashwara.

  • The Mashwara should be done after a prayer. It is recommended to do this Mashwara after Fajr so that brothers will start the day with the Fikr (mindset) of Da’wa.
  • The Mashwara should be very brief, around 5 minutes average.
  • It should consist of asking what was done yesterday, and what will be done today.
