Maulana Tariq Jameel is a famous Scholar who has been part of Tablighi Jamaat since his student days. He used to be very active going out in Jamaat, following the Tarteeb (Methodology) of Tabligh and regularly doing Gasht.
Maulana Tariq Jameel used to be close to Haji Abdul Wahab Sahab, the most senior elder of Tablighi Jamaat Worldwide. Haji Abdul Wahab Sahab has however raised concerns against him for his social media presence.

Due to social media, Maulana Tariq Jameel has became very famous. Possibly, the most famous Islamic Scholar in the world.
Just to understand how famous he is, as of 2025, his Youtube Channel has 8.6 million subscribers, far surpassing any Islamic Scholars such as Mufti Menk (5.8 million subscribers), Mufti Tariq Masood (4.8 million subscribers) and Zakir Naik (4.2 million subscribers). By these standards, he is currently the most famous Islamic scholar in the world.
Over time, his engagement in Tablighi Jamaat activities havr slowly faded.. Rasulullah SAW has warned about the dangers of fame:
“Ibn Ka’b bin Malik Al-Ansari narrated from his father, that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘Two wolves free among sheep are no more destructive to them than a man’s desire for wealth and honor(fame) is to his religion.’”

Maulana Tariq Jameel still supports, promotes and associates himself with Tablighi Jamaat. He regularly attends big Ijtemas like the Raiwind Ijtema.
Although his regular involvement in regular Tablighi Jamaat activities has slowed down, he is still one of the biggest promoters of Tablighi Jamaat Worldwide.
Despite his fame, externally, Maulana Tariq Jameel maintains a humble and down to earth attitude. This is no doubt an effect of his years of experience going out in Jamaat, enduring hardships during Gasht, etc.

Maulana Tariq Jameel and Deoband
Maulana Tariq Jameel is part of the Deobandi School of Thought, which is the Hanafi Madhab administered by the independant instituition “Darul Uloom Deoband” of India.
Darul Uloom Deoband has not issued any direct Fatwas against his statements. (As of 2025) When asked about their stance on Maulana Tariq Jameel, they clarified that they have not done adequate research on him.

My dear brother we have a problem nowadays somebody would give Sawa but they would not take the full audio but only part to condemned the person, the same thing people condemn mawlana Saeed khadrtjee(world amir) so this is the current situation of the ummah may Allah forgive us.
Most of us here used to be followers of Maulana Saad and this is one of the things we used to believe in.
We soon realize this is very incorrect. How can we claim All the Darul Ulooms (e.g. Deoband) did not do proper study or due process before issuing Fatawas? Doesn’t this make our Fatwa system doubtful?
