Verification and endorsement by scholars and muftis of Kanpur city: All-India Darul Uloom Deoband’s stance on Tabligh is correct; Maulana Saad Sahib Kandhlawi has deviated from the right path
Darul Uloom Deoband has always supported the blessed work of Da’wah and Tabligh and has never opposed the original work. However, Maulana Saad Sahib Kandhlawi has diverted this Da’wah effort from the path of the elders of Tabligh and given it a wrong direction, and even now he is not practically desisting from his mistakes. Scholars have noted and recorded dozens of such statements with references that contain incorrect interpretations of the Quran and Hadith and opposition to the majority of Ahl as-Sunnah wal-Jama’ah. If he avoids them but does not repent and retract publicly or issue a statement of Rujoo, then there remains no doubt about his deviation from the right path and becoming the founder of a new sect.
Since the conditions for Rujoo, which include the important condition that the mistake that has been acknowledged should not be repeated, and that which was said incorrectly in public should be publicly announced as incorrect, Maulana Saad Sahib is not ready for such a serious Rujoo. Rather, upon insistence and persuasion, a letter of Rujoo was written and sent to Darul Uloom Deoband in which he acknowledged and retracted certain mistakes, but even after that, he is openly stating the same incorrect things in his speeches, of which complete recordings are preserved. This is not Rujoo but mockery of Rujoo, it is the worst form of retraction.
Therefore, in such a situation, for Darul Uloom to take a clear stance and maintain its position that Maulana Saad Sahib is deviating from the majority of Ahl as-Sunnah wal-Jama’ah, and that his specific views and ideas which are spreading among the public are in danger of taking the form of a misguided sect, is absolutely right and based on truth. The concern expressed by Darul Uloom Deoband is not hypothetical but real.
Maulana Saad Sahib Kandhlawi is being deceived by the flattery of some self-interested marginal scholars and the masses gathered as a result of the ongoing work, who have no knowledge of the Quran and Sunnah.
