On 5th February 2025, Following the fall of Bashar Al Assad and the installation of the new syrian (interim) government, the following clarification letter has been issued by the leaders of Tabligh in Syria:

Translation:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, and may peace and blessings be upon His noble Messenger.
By the grace and generosity of Allah Almighty, the first Shura (council) for Syria was held, bringing together representatives from all Syrian provinces striving to follow the work of the Prophet (peace be upon him). This took place on Wednesday, 6th Sha’ban 1446 Hijri, corresponding to 2025 Gregorian in the city of Hama, may Allah protect it.
The discussions and resolutions were conducted according to the following guidelines:
1. The Shura in the country is based on the principle of rotation in leadership. Each session appoints a responsible leader for adjudication, chosen from experienced elders who meet the required qualifications.
2. The country has adopted a single reference authority for the work: The World Shura.
3. The work granted is the work of scholars (mashayikh) in establishing the five efforts and striving to uphold the characteristics of the Sunnah, as well as organizing and structuring efforts in learning circles progressively.
4. The movement of groups between provinces will be determined by consultation between the sending and receiving provincial authorities. No Jamaat or individual will be accepted unless they are Syrian.
5. Receiving Jamaat from outside the country is currently not suitable. When the circumstances become appropriate, such groups must be dispatched through the World Shura.
6. At present, a delegation of scholars from the World Shura will be received for a period of two to three weeks in all provinces.
7. Each province must reflect and strive according to its local conditions, with focus and perseverance, without haste.
8. The work arrangement should be coordinated between each province and its counterpart.
9. Regarding Aleppo, Idlib, Raqqa, and Deir ez-Zor, they should remain in their current state until the situation of the brothers in the country and their residence stabilizes.
10. The date of the next consultation session for Syria will be held in Damascus.
11. If necessary, a special Shura session will be arranged to prepare a presentation on the situation before the World Shura at the Elders’ Meeting in (Raiwind) Pakistan after the upcoming Ramadan.

2017 Attack on Tablighi Jamaat Markaz in Syria
On 19 March 2017, A US airstrike on a mosque in al-Jina, Syria, reportedly struck a Tablighi Jamaat gathering, killing over 50 people and injuring dozens more. Independent journalist Bilal Abdul Kareem, reporting from the scene, disputed US claims that the target was an al-Qaeda meeting place, emphasizing that the Masjid had hosted religious gatherings for four years. Witnesses described drone surveillance for hours before the strike, and footage showed extensive damage to the Masjid. While US officials insisted they targeted a nearby building used by al-Qaeda, evidence, including missile fragments, suggested otherwise. The attack was condemned internationally, with Turkey calling it a “war crime.” The strike adds to the rising civilian toll under President Trump’s administration, which has seen hundreds of non-combatant deaths in recent military operations across the Middle East.
