A false slander has recently emerged accusing the book Fadhail Amal having fabricated/Mawdu hadith. This is a very heavy slander which has never emerged before. The reason it has never emerged is because it is completely baseless!

Here we answer the allegations as there are NO CLEAR FABRICATED HADITHS in FADHAIL AMAL.

If you don’t believe us, download the English translation or the original Urdu of Fadhail Amal and check it yourself.

There are a total of approximately 800+ Hadith in Fadhail Amal.

Maulana Zakariyya was one of the greatest Hadith Scholars of our time

He was a Sheikhul Hadith for more than 50 years

Maulana Zakariyya taught Hadith for more than 50 years.

He was the Sheikhul Hadith of Mazahirul Uloom Saharanpur, a position which is impossible to obtain unless someone has dedicated his life to the science of Hadith

He authored so many books of Hadith Commentary

Amongst Sheikh Zakariyya’s major works include:

Badhl al-Majhud (Abu Dawud commentary)

Al-Hall al-Mufhim (Muslim commentary)

Al-La’ali al-Dirari (Bukhari commentary)

Awjaz al-Masalik (20+ volume Muwatta commentary)

Khasa’il al-Nabawi (Commentary on Shama’il of Tirmidhi)

These book are still used until today

He was invited to Madinah by Saudi scholars and passed away there.

Due to his extensive works in Hadith, he was invited to migrate to Madinah by the scholars there (allegedly Sheikh Bin Baz also invited him).

In 1973, at the age 75, he eventually migrated to Madinah and passed away 9 years later in 1982. He was buried in Jannatul Baqi.

#Allegation 1 – Hadith of Prophet Adam (AS)

There are more than 800+ Hadith in Fadhail Amaal. The allegers have cherry picked this hadith found on page 142 of Fadhail Amaal (English) – Virtues of Dhikr (Hadith #28). The hadith tells about Prophet Adam (AS) seeking forgiveness after seeing Prophet Muhammad’s ﷺ name on the ‘Arsh’.

The Hadith

On the authority of Umar, who said: The Messenger of Allah (Sallallaho alaihe wasallam) said: “After Hadhrat Aadam (AS) happened to commit the mistake as a result of which he was transferred from Paradise to this Earth, he used to spend all his time in weeping, praying and repenting, and once he looked up towards the Heaven and prayed: “O Allah! I beg Thy forgiveness in the name of Muhammad (Sallallaho alaihe wasallam).” “Who is Muhammad?” came the enquiry through Divine revelation. He replied: “When you had created me, I saw the words لا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهَ مُحَمَّدٌ رُسُولُ اللَّهِ written on Your Arsh, and since then I believed that no human being is superior to Muhammad (Sallallaho alaihe wasallam), whose name appeared along with Yours.” In reply, it was revealed, “He is to be the last of all the prophets, and will be your descendant. If he were not to be created, you would not have been created.”

The False Claim

Without reading Maulana Zakariyya’s full arabic commentary, the allegers claim that Maulana Zakariyya wrote the word ‘Mawdu’ (مَوْضُوعٌ) next to it, hence claiming that Maulana Zakariyya loves to use ‘Mawdu’ (مَوْضُوعٌ) Hadith.

Please read Maulana Zakariyya’s Arabic Commentary!

Translation

Al-Tabarani included it in Al-Saghir, as did Al-Hakim, Abu Nu’aim and Al-Bayhaqi, both in the Dala’il, and Ibn Asakir in Al-Durr. In Majma’ Al-Zawa’id, it was narrated by Al-Tabarani in Al-Awsat and Al-Saghir, containing narrators I do not know. I say: This is supported by the famous hadith “If it were not for you, I would not have created the heavens.” Al-Qari said in Al-Mawdu’at Al-Kabir: It is fabricated but its meaning is authentic, and in Al-Tasharruf its meaning is established. The first is supported by what is mentioned in other narrations that it is written on the Throne and on the gates of Paradise: “There is no god but Allah, Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah,” as Al-Suyuti detailed its chains in Manaqib Al-La’ali in several places, and he also provided supporting evidence for it in his tafsir of Surah Alam Nashrah.

Maulana Zakariyya quotes this hadith from 5 sources in his commentary.

From the arabic commentary, Maulana Zakariyya clearly mentions that this Hadith has been quoted by the following great scholars:

Imam Tabrani cites this hadith in his famous book Al-Saghir.

Imam Hakim cites this hadith in his famous book Mustadrak Al Hakim

Imam Abu Nuaim cites this hadith in his book Dala’il al-Nubuwwa (The Signs and Proofs of Prophethood)

Imam Bayhaqi who extended the work of Imam Abu Nuaim cites this hadith in his book with the same name Dala’il al-Nubuwwa (The Signs and Proofs of Prophethood). In that book, he still mentions the hadith.

The hadith is also cited in the famous book Majma Al-Zawaid (by Imam Haythami), who says there are some people in the chain of narrators who he does not know. However, he further comments that this Hadith is supported by the famous hadith “If it were not for you (Muhammad SAW), I would not have created the heavens”.

Maulana Zakariyya shows academic honesty by also providing a critical view of the Hadith

The word ‘Mawdu’ mentioned in Maulana Zakariyya’s commentary refers to the commentary by Mulla Ali Qari in his book Mawdu’at al Kabeer. Mulla Ali Qari has the view that the Hadith is Mawdu (fabricated). However, Mulla Ali Qari himself says that despite it being fabricated, the meaning is established.

Maulana Zakariyya is showing academic honesty by providing a critical view, which is apparanetly only one source. Even then, the commentator says that the meaning of the Hadith is established.

He further cites the famous hadith (to the nearest effect) “on the Throne and on the gates of Paradise (it is seen written): “There is no god but Allah, Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah” . Imam Suyuti has commentated on this Hadith in his book and says that this hadith is supported by Surah Ash-Sharh (Alam Nashrah).

Conclusion

There are 800+ Hadith in Fadhail Amaal. It is dishonest to cherry pick one hadith and cherry pick negative views of the Sanad. For this particular Hadith, there are 5 great scholars of Islam with supporting views of this Hadith including Tabrani and Al-Hakim.

Maulana Zakariyya was a learnt Scholar of Hadith. It is incorrect to claim that he loves to use fabricated Hadith by cherry picking negative views of Sanads (chain of transmissions), when there are other opinions that support it.

The Hadith

It is said in a hadith that, Allah bestows five favours on a person who is mindful of his salaat, viz: His daily bread is made easy for him; he is saved from the punishments in the grave; he shall receive his record in his right hand on the Day of Judgement; he shall cross the Siraat with the speed of lightning and he shall enter Paradise without reckoning. As for him who neglects his salaat, he shall meet five types of punishments in this world, three at the time of death, three in the grave and three after resurrection. Those in this world are: he is not blessed in life; he is deprived of the light with which the faces of the righteous are endowed; he receives no rewards for his good practices: his prayers are not answered; and he has no share in the prayers of the pious. Those at the time of death are: he dies disgracefully; he dies hungry; he dies in thirst; which the water in the oceans of the world cannot quench. Those in the grave are: He is so squeezed there that the ribs of one side penetrate into the ribs of the other side; fire is burnt inside for him and he is rolled on cinders day and night; a serpent with fiery eyes and iron nails equal in length to a day’s journey is let loose on him and shouts with a thundering voice, ‘My Lord has charged me with thrashing you till sunrise for neglecting Fajr, till Asr for neglecting Zuhur, till sunset for neglecting Asr, till Ishaa for neglecting Maghrib and till dawn for neglecting Ishaa. The serpent will keep on thrashing him thus till the Last Day. Each blow pushes him to a depth of seventy arm’s length. The punishments will last till the Day of Judgement. Those after resurrection are: His reckoning will be a hard one; Allah will be angry with him; and he will be thrown into the Fire.

The False Claim

Without reading Maulana Zakariyya’s full arabic commentary, the allegers claim that this Hadith is ‘Baatil’ (بَاطِلٌ) (False).

Refutation: Please read Maulana Zakariyya’s Arabic Commentary!

Translation of Maulana Zakariyya’s Commentary in Arabic

“What is mentioned in this hadith regarding the detailed count does not match the total of fifteen because the detailed count is only fourteen, so perhaps the narrator forgot the fifteenth, as mentioned in ‘Al-Zawajir’ by Ibn Hajar Al-Makki. I say: And it is so, because Imam Abu Al-Laith Al-Samarqandi cites this hadith from the book ‘Qurrat Al-Uyun,’ where it is listed six in this world, saying: The fifth is that creatures despise him in this worldly life, and the sixth is that he has no share in the prayers of the righteous. Then he mentioned the complete hadith without attributing it to anyone. And in ‘Tanbih Al-Ghafilin’, Imam Abu Al-Laith Al-Samarqandi cites: Whoever regularly performs the five prayers in congregation, Allah gives him five qualities, and whoever neglects them in congregation, Allah punishes him with twelve qualities: three in this world, three at death, three in the grave, and three on the Day of Resurrection. Then he mentioned similar matters, then said: And it was narrated from Abu Dharr from the Prophet ﷺ something similar to this. Al-Suyuti mentioned in ‘Dhail Al-La’ali,’ after citing what was extracted with similar meaning from Ibn Al-Najjar’s extraction in ‘History of Baghdad’ with his chain to Abu Hurayra (may Allah be pleased with him). He said in ‘Al-Mizan’: This is a false hadith fabricated by Muhammad bin Ali bin Abbas upon Abu Bakr bin Ziyad Al-Nisaburi. I say: However, Al-Hafiz mentioned in ‘Al-Munabbihat’ from Abu Hurayra as a Marfu‘ hadith: Prayer is the pillar of religion and it has ten qualities. I mentioned this hadith in ‘Al-Hindiya,’ and Al-Ghazali cited from the book in ‘Daqa’iq Al-Akhbar’ something similar but more complete than this, and said: Whoever preserves it, Allah honors him with fifteen, etc., in detail.”

Maulana Zakariyya quotes this hadith from 5 sources in his commentary.

Maulana Zakariyya clearly mentions that this Hadith has been quoted by the following great scholars of Islam:

Ibn Hajar Al-Makki cites this hadith in his book Al-Zawajir.

Abu Al-Laith Al-Samarqandi cites this hadith from the book Qurrat Al-Uyun. He also cites a similar hadith in his famous book ‘Tanbih Al-Ghafilin‘. In another place he quotes a similar narration from Abu Dhar (RA).

Hafiz Ibn Hajar (aka Al-Hafiz) cites a similar version of this hadith in the book ‘Al-Munabbihat’ and says this hadith is a Marfu‘ hadith (حديث مرفوع), a hadith that is specifically attributed to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, whether it’s his saying, action, or tacit approval. In hadith studies, Marfu‘ hadiths generally carry more weight in deriving Islamic rulings compared to other categories.

Imam Al-Ghazali cites a complete version of this hadith referencing it from the book ‘Daqaiq Al Akhbar’.

Imam Al-Suyuti cites this hadith in Dhayl Al-La’ali where he show the Sanad up to Abu Hurayrah RA. However, Imam Suyuti holds the view that this Hadith is Batil (False) (بَاطِلٌ) and may have been fabricated by Muhammad bin Ali bin Abbas (who is seen in the chain of transmission) mentioned in Al-Mizan.

Maulana Zakariyya shows academic honesty by providing a critical view of the Hadith

The word ‘Batil’ mentioned in Maulana Zakariyya’s commentary refers to the view of Imam Al Suyuti (1445-1505) in his supplementary booklet, ‘Dhayl al-Lalai al-Masnu’ah fi al-Ahadith al-Mawdu’ah’ which translates to ‘The Supplement to ‘The Fabricated Pearls’ Regarding Fabricated Hadiths’.

Maulana Zakariyya is showing academic honesty by providing the critical sources, which is only one out of the 5 quoted sources.

While Imam Suyuti is a great scholar in Islam, Hafiz Ibn Hajar (1372-1449) is a higher authority yet he has cited the Hadith in his book Al-Munabbihat and claims that this hadith is Marfu’, a category of hadith that refers to any narration which is specifically attributed to the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and carries more weight.

Conclusion

There are 800+ Hadith in Fadhail Amaal. It is dishonest to cherry pick one hadith and cherry pick negative views of the Sanad. For this particular hadith, there are 4 great scholars of Islam with supporting views including Ibn Hajar who mentions this Hadith as Marfu’ (Elevated Hadith).

He told me later that he had heard the Prophet (Sallallaho alaihe wasallam) saying, “When a person stands for salaat, he should keep his body at rest and he should not behave like the jews, since to remain motionless is one of the complements of salaat.”

There are many Deen and Da’wah efforts worldwide. InshaAllah all of them are sincere and working in their unique fields. What makes Tablighi Jamaat unique? Why should one choose (or continue doing Tabligh) when there are many other ways to fulfill the Da’wah obligation?

The main purpose of joining the effort of Deen is to achieve Islah (purification) in our lives. But why is this method so unique?

This article explains this.

Our success depends on how much we follow the Prophet (SAW)

Our declaration of faith (Kalima) includes accepting Prophet Muhammad (SAW) as Allah’s messenger. This means we must take him as our guide. His lifestyle is a complete example for us to follow.

The Prophet (SAW) said, “Verily, he among you who lives long will see great controversy, so you must keep to my Sunnah and to the Sunnah of the Khulafa ar-Rashideen (the rightly guided caliphs), those who guide to the right way.”

Source: Timmidhi:2676, 40 Hadith of Nawawi:28

The more we follow the Prophet’s (SAW) Sunnah, the more Islah we achieve. This makes us more successful in Allah’s (SWT) eyes, both in this world and in the hereafter.

Mujahadah in Da’wah was the Prophet’s Life!

The life of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) showed his unwavering sincerity and constant Mujahadah/hardships in Da’wah (inviting others to Islam). Even at the start of his prophethood, Waraqah ibn Naufal warned him that this was the tradition of all prophets:

….. and Waraqa said, “This is the same entity (referring to the angel Jibril) who keeps the secrets whom Allah had sent to Moses. I wish I were young and could live up to the time when your people would turn you out.” Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) asked, “Will they drive me out?” Waraqa replied in the affirmative and said, “Anyone (man) who came with something similar to what you have brought was treated with hostility…..”

Source: Bukhari 1:3

Today people think Da’wa is all sunshines and roses. They think Da’wa is about becoming famous, winning debates, getting many followers, and giving talks in packed venues.

In reality, the Prophet SAW faced the opposite:

He was rejected

He was looked down upon

He was mistreated

He endured many losses

He had few followers

His followers were mostly society’s underdogs

Yet, he deeply cared and worried for his Ummah (community), as highlighted in the Quran:

لَقَدْ جَآءَكُمْ رَسُولٌۭ مِّنْ أَنفُسِكُمْ عَزِيزٌ عَلَيْهِ مَا عَنِتُّمْ حَرِيصٌ عَلَيْكُم بِٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ رَءُوفٌۭ رَّحِيمٌۭ ١٢٨

There certainly has come to you a messenger from among yourselves. He is concerned by your suffering, anxious for your well-being, and gracious and merciful to the believers.

Source: Quran 9:128

The Prophet’s sincerity in his Da’wah

Prophet Muhammad (SAW) showed complete sincerity in his Daw’ah and sought no reward from people. The Quran shows this:

وَمَآ أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِىَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ

I do not claim from you any reward for it. My reward is with none but with the Lord of the worlds.

The Prophet’s Mujadahadah (Hardship) in Da’wah

The Prophet (SAW) faced many hardships during his Da’wah mission. His Seerah shows examples like:

The Incident in Taif where he faced severe rejection

The persecution in Mecca

His beloved uncle Abu Talib rejecting his message (Bukhari:3884)

Years of rejection during Hajj seasons

The death of all his children

Tablighi Jamaat’s revival of the Mujahadah in Da’wah

Today, Tablighi Jamaat offers a way to practice the Mujahadah of Da’wa as the Prophets did. This is a great path to Islah and Allah’s acceptance. Here are some Mujahadahs we face in our Da’wah mission:

Mujahadah #1 – We go to people, not people come to us!

Today’s typical Da’wah involves organizing lectures for those who attend. While this approach is also a Sunnah, how do we reach those far from Deen?

Social Media or YouTube is another common Da’wah method now. This Da’wa can bring millions of views. However, most of the viewers are from already practicing Muslims. The average Muslim sadly don’t watch these Islamic lectures. They prefer to watch their movies and films, etc.

Maulana Tariq Jameel’s YouTube channel, for example has the most subscribers among Islamic scholars worldwide. As of 2025, he has 8.8 million subscribers. There 220 million Muslim Urdu speakers worldwide and these subscribers make up only 5%. Don’t get us wrong! 5% is still a lot, but we need an effort to capture the other 95%.

*Disclaimer: This statement is not our endorsement of Maulana Tariq Jameel.

In Tablighi Jamaat, we don’t wait for people – we go to them instead.

Mujahadah #2 – We go to people far from Deen

One Mujahada (hardship) of Da’wa is reaching out to people far from Deen. Sadly today, majority of the people have no interest in Deen at all.

It’s easy to give Da’wa to our followers, practicing Muslims, especially those who are already consuming Islamic lectures, etc.

We give Da’wah door-to-door, in public places, at offices, and businesses. We often face rejections and sometimes humiliations.

Some ask why give Da’wa to uninterested people. The answer is simple: it’s the Prophet SAW’s Sunnah. How else will the message reach them?

This hardship makes our Da’wah humble and sincere.

Mujahadah #3 – We try to convince practicing Muslims to join Da’wah.

Another Mujahadah (difficulty) is getting practicing Muslims involved in Da’wah (as Da’ees) or any efforts of Deen. We aim to spark the Fikr (concern) of Deen in them by inviting them to Jamaat. In Jamat, they will give Da’wah to others. This slowly develops the Fikr of Deen in them.

Today, most practicing Muslims are not involved in ANY effort sof Deen. Yes, they earn a Halal living, pray, fast, pay Zakat, etc., but an important part of the Sunnah – Da’wah and establishing Deen – is missing from their lives.

Mujahadah #4 – We give Da’wah as a Nobody (without fame or status)

In Tablighi Jamaat, we learn to give Da’wah as unknown people. We learn to humble ourselves. We speak politely for the sake of Allah.

This was the Sunnah of most prophets (AS). People often looked down on them despite their intelligence, qualifications, and good lineage. They were treated like society’s underdogs. Their followers were often the low-status people.

There’s nothing wrong with being famous or “high status,” but if Da’wah were limited to such people, few would be available for this work.

Also, ince someone becomes famous, they may feel no need to face Mujahadah (hardship) in Da’wah anymore. They may not need to reach those far from Deen since they already have many followers. They might also find it harder to pray alone at night and sincerely supplicate to Allah SWT.

Mujahadah #5 – We face rejections and disappointments

In Tablighi Jamaat, we are either:

Giving Da’wah to people far from Deen

Inviting practicing Muslims to join Da’wa

These are extremely difficult tasks, and we often face rejections and disappointments. Sometimes hardships come from pious-looking people, which can be confusing when they seem like better Muslims than us.

This makes us sad. Why don’t they understand Da’wa’s importance? Here, we must remain patient. This patience/Sabr is an indication that Allah SWT is pleased with us and has chosen us to revive a great Sunnah of the Prophet (SAW).

Mujahadah #6 – We are often left alone with no one listening to us

Most of the time, Allah SWT tests us with small numbers in our Da’wah. Sometimes, we ar left alone, with no one to help us.

Having few followers in the early stages of Da’wah is a Sunnah of all Prophets (AS). Some Prophets struggled to gain followers throughout their entire life.

Often no one will sit or listen to our Daw’a. We are human beings after all and sometimes we feel sad about this.

However, there is a bright side to this. This emotion of sadness is a Sunnah of the Prophets (AS). People didn’t listen to their talks, yet they continued giving Da’wah

Mujahadah #7 – We have to work with people with different temperaments

In any team or Jamaat effort, we meet people with different temperaments and ways of doing things. We may feel the urge to push our opinions or criticize others who are different.

But deep inside, our fear of Allah stops us from creating chaos. We don’t want our personal issues to affect the effort. We don’t want to block guidance due to petty grievances. If this effort fails, what other efforts will reach people door-to-door?

Sometimes Shaytaan comes to us and tells us to quit Da’wa entirely. But we ignore it and make Sabr (patience) instead.

We have Sabr working with brothers with different temperaments.

We attend local Mashwaras even if our opinions are rejected.

We make Sabr when brothers are harsh to us.

We are the first to apologize when there is a conflict.

This is clearly a great Sunnah that the prophets also followed. Prophet Musa AS faced intense difficulties with his own tribe. The Sahaba RAhum also had different temperaments (Mizaaj) but they all made Sabr.

Due to ALL the difficulties, we turn and cry to Allah SWT

With all these hardships, difficulties, and feelings of hopelessness, Allah SWT Himself makes us humble. We turn to Allah SWT crying in Du’a (supplication). Tears fall from our cheeks. We tell Allah SWT about our weakness. We are nobody, unimportant in the eyes of people. We don’t seek fame, status or worldly gains. We only beg Allah SWT for one thing from all our hardships…

…..and that is the Hidayah (guidance) for all mankind.

How beautiful is this effort? It is pure, sincere and a Sunnah of all the prophets (AS).

Even if no one listens to us after all our efforts, this experience alone is our greatest success.

Da’wah was the means for Islah.

Da’wah was the means to gain closeness to Allah.

Da’wah was the means of acceptance from Allah.

The post Why Tablighi Jamaat? first appeared on Tablighi Jamaat.

Going in Jamaat (also known as Khurooj in the Path of Allah) involves traveling together in a small group of Muslim brothers, typically ranging from 3 to 10 brothers, to a Masjid or specified location. During this time, members engage in Da’wa (inviting others to Islam), Ta’leem (teaching and learning), Ibadah (prayers) and Khidma (service).

*Khidma (service) generally refers to cooking and cleaning works for the Jamaat. Experienced Jamaat members will take turns doing Khidma.

The entire Khurooj program serves as a program for self-improvement and rekindle spirituality through prescribed activities.

Why go in Jamaat?

Going out in Jamaat is one of the most spiritually uplifting journeys one can undertake in this day and age. Alhamdulillah, many brothers have experienced a profound revival in their Iman (faith in Allah) through these trips. In a world where people are losing faith in Allah, humanity, and hope itself, going in Jamaat is one of the best ways to rekindle their faith in Allah SWT.

The average number of people in a Jamaat varies between countries, but a Jamaat of 7 members is generally considered ‘standard size’.

Why are Jamaat’s so effective?

When we were first born into this world, we were hopeless, dependant and nobody knows us. As time goes, we become stronger, achieve more worldy status, feel more independant and sparks of pride starts entering our hearts. This “achievement” in the eyes of Allah, is nothing more than a house of cards, with a flick from Allah, everything can crumble.

Going out in Jamaat makes us return back to our roots. We are nothing more that dependents to the truly independant Allah. In Jamaat, we go as nobody, sleep as travellers, eat together, etc. Everyone is the same. When doing Gasht (visiting other muslims), we learn to meet unknown people with humility only for the sake of Allah.

Sinceity (Ikhlas) and simplicity is the foundation of why Jamaat’s are so effective in changing people’s life. In Jamaat we learn how to please our creator by fulfilling our responsibilities as Muslims. At the end of the day we have to firmly belief that Allah SWT is the doer of each and everything.

How long are the duration of Jamaats?

For first timers, 3-day Jamaats are the best. We dedicate our full 3-days there.

However, different Jamaat durations are also avaialble. Typical durations are:

1-day Jamaat
These Jamaats are exclusive for high school / university students. Student are free to spend more than a day but this is the recommended duration.

3-day Jamaat
This is the best Jamaat for first timers. These Jamaats are typically stay in nearby Masjids for the weekend. Working professionals may have difficulties taking Fridays off from work and may start on Friday evening, making the Jamaat 2-days rather than 3-days.

10-day Jamaat
These Jamaats are typically organized during public/work holidays. They may travel to a slightly further location. It is typically organised for professionals who are unable to take 40 days off from work. It is also a typical Jamaat during Ramadhan.

40-day Jamaat
These are standard long Jamaats. These Jamaats would typically travel to different states within their own country or nearby countries.

2-month Jamaat
These are Jamaats that travel to distant countries. The standard duration is 4 months but some times due to certain limitation a 2 months Jamaat is preferred. 2 months Jamaat is also the longest allowed duration for Masturat (ladies) Jamaat.

4-month Jamaat
These are Jamaats that travel to distant countries. Members going 4 months for the first time are encouraged to go to India, Pakistan or Bangladesh to learn the movement there where it is more established.

7-month Jamaat
These are special arrangements for Pakistani Foreign Jamaats established by Maulana Yusuf (the second Ameer of Tabligh).

1-year Jamaat
These are special Jamaats organised for the Ulema (Islamic Scholars). Ulema who finished their studies are encourage to spend Jamaat for this duration.

What happens during a Jamaat?

Below is a coarse list ofa activities that happen in a Jamaat from start to end.

#1 Listening to the Hidayat Bayan

The Hidayat Bayan (Talk) is the starting point of a Jamaat. It is the first activity in a Jamaat. It is a ‘Briefing/Instruction’ talk given before a Jamaat goes out in the Path of Allah. The person giving the Hidayat Bayan is generally appointed by Mashwara.

A Jamaat starts by gathering all participants at an agreed time and location, typically a Tablighi Jamaat Markaz.

The Hidayat Bayan usually outlines the dos and donts while in Jamaat (The 12 Usools – Dos and Donts in a Jamaat).

#2 Deciding where the Jamaat should go (if it has not been decided)

After the Hidayat Bayan, if the destination has not been decided, the local Zimmedar or Shura will determine where the Jamaat should go. Some Markazs have a ‘Tashkeel Jamaat’ which determines where the Jamaat should go to. They will present this destination to the deciding Zimmedar. Depending on the suitability of the Jamaat (financially, experience-wise, etc.), the Zimmedar will decide the route. This route is often called the ‘Tashkeel’ place/route

#3 Appointing the Ameer

Next, an Ameer (leader) for the Jamaat will be appointed. Each member will give their opinion on who should be the Ameer, and a Shura or local Zimmedar will make the decision.

Once appointed, the Ameer will first consult (do Mashwara) with other members on what to do next. Preparations for the journey and the expenses needed are typically discussed first.

#4 Travelling to the place of Tashkeel

Once preparations are finalized, the Jamaat will then journey to the place of Tashkeel (the destination). The Jamaat will try to travel collectively in a group.

#5 Staying at the place of Tashkeel

Depending on the local Mashwara, a Jamaat will typically stay at the place of Tashkeel for 2 to 4 days, with 3 days being the standard duration.

The place of stay may not necessarily be a Masjid, as some Masjids do not allow overnight stays. In such cases, the Jamaat may:

Stay at a nearby Masjid that allows accodomation.

Stay at a local brother’s house, provided there are no women in the house.

Rent a house or hotel.

Pitch a tent (typical in remote areas).

#6 Conducting daily activities

Daily activities in a Jamaat can be categorized into four main activities:

Da’wah (Inviting others)
This includes daily visits and Gasht (public Da’wah)

Taleem Taalum (Teaching and Learning)
This includes individual reading (during Infiradi/individual time) or the daily 2.5 hours collective Taleem using the approved books.

Zikr and Ibada
This encompasses all collective and individual prayers, recitation of the Quran, and daily Zikr. Tahajjud (night prayers), although optional, are highly encouraged in Jamaats.

Khidma (Serving others)
This involves serving, cooking, and cleaning for the Jamaat.

These activities are part of the 12 Usool, a simple rule of conduct for members participating in Jamaats.

#7 Returning back from Jamaat

Upon finishing the allocated time, a Jamaat will typically return to the Markaz or their local Masjid, depending on what has been decided.

Before they leave, they will receive the Wapsi Bayan (returning home instructions). This Wapsi Bayan is primarily aimed at reminding members that although they are returning home, their duty for Da’wah does not end. They are encouraged to continue the 5 Amaals (practices) back at home.

What items should I bring in Jamaat?

The most effective Jamaats are Jamaats that are self sufficient, independent and do not put burden on the local brothers at the place of their Tashkeel.

This is very important when going to places where the local effort is weak.

Group/Shared Items

Cooking equipment

Serving equipments (Plates, pots, ladle, Sufra, etc)

Transport (if possible)

Individual Items:

See: Complete list of items to bring in Jamaat

How much does it cost to go in Jamaat?

Going in Jamaat is technically free. The only expenses are our own travel and group expenses especially food. Accommodation is (most of the time) free since Jamaats stay in Masjids as guests.

What if someone does not have enough money to go in Jamaat?

If a person wishing to go in Jamaat does not have the financial means to travel overseas, it is best that he join local Jamaats. InshaAllah, with his patience and cry for not being able to travel, this will be the means of Hidaya (Guidance) all over the world.

Jamaat members should not ask for donations or sponsorship. This has been one of the rules of Jamaat. Jamaat members are also discouraged to borrow money for going in Jamaat.

The best approach is to ask Allah SWT. There are countless stories of how Allah SWT miraculously resolves the financial constraints of a person wanting to go in Jamaat.

How do I join a Jamaat?

To join a Jamaat, find out where the local Tablighi Jamaat Markaz is in your area.

The post Going out in Jamaat / Khurooj first appeared on Tablighi Jamaat.

The primary method Tablighi Jamaat uses to achieve this is by inviting individuals to join Jamaats, often referred to as ‘Going out in the Path of Allah’ or simply Khurooj, which in Arabic means ‘Going out’.

Tablighi Jamaat is not a sect or an exclusive group; members can come from any Islamic school of thought. It is far from being a cult, which typically has an authoritative leader at the top. Instead, Tablighi Jamaat is decentralized into countries, regions, districts, and even down to individual Masjids. There are no hirings or firings in Tablighi Jamat. People are free to join and leave as they please

What is ‘Going out in Jamaat’?

Going out in Jamaat is the primary method of how Tablighi Jamaat revive the Iman (Faith) of Muslims.

A Jamaat is a small group of Muslims, typically ranging from 3 to 10 members. The average number of people in a Jamaat varies between countries, but a Jamaat of 7 members is generally considered a standard size.

A Jamaat travels to a specific location for an agreed period. They will typically stay in a Masjid, eat, sleep and perform all their activities in the Masjid. A Jamaat will typically carry all equipment for cooking, serving, dining and sleeping. Unless provision is made, Jamaat members do not go home or engage in any other activities (such as going to work) while participating in the Jamaat.

Typical durations for Jamaats are 3 days, 10 days, 40 days, 4 months, or even 1 year. These time periods are organized so that group members can start and end their journey together as a team. Jamaats with longer durations, such as 40 days or 4 months, may sometimes travel to different countries. A 40-day Jamaat might visit neighboring countries, while a 4-month Jamaat may journey to more distant destinations.

Why are Jamaats so effective in changing people’s lives?

Even though a Jamaat functions to give Da’wah (inviting) others, its main impact is on the participating members themselves.

This is because participants experience an ‘environment of Deen (pure Islam)’ while they participate. Being immersed in this beautiful and peaceful environment impacts a person’s heart, instilling good habits and ultimately revive their Iman to Allah.

The activities during a Jamaat are also geared towards self-reformation. For example, the ‘Gasht’ activity involves visiting Muslim brothers and talking about Allah and His Deen. By speaking to others and trying to convince them, the speaker himself is the first to be convinced.

Focusing on oneself creates humility

Tablighi Jamaat’s Da’wah is internally oriented. This is one of the uniqueness of the Jamaat. While engaging in Da’wah, Tablighi Jamaat members are guided by principles:

• Da’wah (inviting others) is for my own self.

• I am more in need of my own speech.

• I am worse than the person I am giving Da’wah to.

This approach instils deep humility in Jamaat members, making their Da’wah softer and more acceptable.

Who founded Tablighi Jamaat?

Tablighi Jamaat was founded by Maulana Ilyas in 1926 in India after his second Hajj.

The early 19th century was a particularly challenging period for Muslims. Islam was at its lowest point following the fall of the Muslim Caliphate in 1924. Many Islamic scholars (Ulema) were systematically killed and tortured by the British Empire after the failed Indian rebellion of 1858, which was largely led by Muslims. Maulana Ilyas witnessed the decline of Islamic faith even among his religious students. This deeply affected him. He would often lament and cry in supplication due to this.

When asked about his movement, Maulana Ilyas would say:

“During my stay in Medina (in 1926), I was commanded to undertake this work, and it was conveyed to me that Allah SWT would take the work from me. For a few days, I was very worried. I did not know what a weak and helpless man like me could do. I then related it to a pious person who remarked that there was no need to be anxious. What I had been told was not to carry out the task but that the task would be taken from me. If Allah was the one to take the service, He would ensure it is done in whatever way He pleases.”

Who gave the name Tablighi-Jamaat?

The name ‘Tablighi Jamaat’ was never intended by its founder, Maulana Ilyas. He did not want the movement to be seen as an exclusive group. The work of Da’wa (calling people towards Allah) is an obligation for all Muslims.

However, the name ‘Tablighi Jamaat’ was given and eventually referred to by the public. ‘Tablighi Jamaat’ simply means ‘a group of people giving Da’wa’. The name eventually became so widespread that even Maulana Ilyas himself occasionally referred to his movement as ‘Tablighi Jamaat’.

The post What is Tablighi Jamaat? first appeared on Tablighi Jamaat.

The 6 points of Tablighi Jamat were introduced in a Mashwara (meeting) that took place in August 1934. Maulana Ilyas (the founder of Tabligh) and Shaykhul Hadith Maulana Zakariyya were part of that Mashwara.

The purpose of the six points is to simplify some of the best qualities of the Sahaba (companions of the Prophet SAW) so that with these qualities, it is easy to set oneself on track to bring complete Deen (Islam) into one’s life.

The majority of the people in this world are simple-minded and know little about Islam. While giving Da’wah (inviting others), it is best to teach them something very simple i.e. essential qualities which they can hold on to. With these qualities, we put them on track to bring complete Deen into their lives.

The Six Points of Tabligh is Simple and Straight forward

The six points of Tabligh itself are simple. There is nothing deep or hidden in the 6 points. Each point can best be described in one or two words. They are:

Kalimah (Declaration of Faith)

Salat (Prayers)

Ilm and Zikr (Knowledge and remembrance)

Ikramul Muslimeen (Respect to Muslims)

Ikhlas (Sincerity)

Da’wah & Tabligh (Inviting and Propagating)

It is important to point out that 6 points is not complete Islam. It is also not an innovation supplementing the 5 pillars of Islam or the 6 pillars of Imaan. The purpose is to inculcate people with the qualities that would make it easy to practice and bring complete Islam into their lives.

There is no set definition for each point

There is also no set and elaborated definition for each point. As mentioned previously, the 6 points are simple. A definition or deeper meaning of the 6 points may have been propagated through word of mouth, however, it is not official and only serves to help people understand and elaborate the 6 points.

The most common definition or elaboration of the 6 points is the letter in which Maulana Yusuf (the second Ameer of Tabligh) wrote to a Jamaat going to Saudi Arabia. This letter has set most of the propagated definitions but Maulana Yusuf was careful not to say that this is the official definition. He mentions general remarks about each point. Here we present them:

#1 – Kalimah

Allah has kept the secret to the total success of human beings within ourselves. Dignity and dishonour, happiness and problems, tranquillity and anxiety, and health and disease, are human beings’ internal conditions. The improvement and deterioration of these conditions are not related to external factors.

Allah can bring disgrace even in the presence of kingdom and wealth, and he can bring honour even in the state of dire poverty. A human’s most valuable internal treasure is his Yaqeen (conviction), and his A’mal (actions). If his actions are good then Allah will create a state of inner success, even without material possessions. Allah is the creator and owner of everything and every being in this universe. He made
everything with His power. Everything has been created by Allah. He is the creator and He is not created. Whoever is created is incapable of creating. Whatever is made by Allah is under Allah’s control. He owns everything. He uses everything and Allah can change the shapes of everything by His power and He can change their qualities without changing their forms. He can change a stick into a snake and a snake into a stick. Similarly, He controls everything and uses these things as He likes. He can bring about destruction from the means of creation and He can show creation from the means of destruction.

He runs the system of sustenance. If He wishes He can sustain somebody in a barren desert without any source of material and He can destroy life even in the midst of abundant materials. The prophet Muhammad (SAW) brought many Sunnahs by which one can gain closeness to Allah and derive benefit directly from the power of Allah. When these ways are adopted in our lives, Allah will grant success in every form and condition.

The Kalimah ‘Lailaha-Ila-Allah’ demands a change in our Iman (Faith), thoughts and actions. Just by changing our Yaqeen (conviction), Allah has promised paradise many times the size of this universe. To acquire this Yaqeen in our life:

We have to invite (give Da’wah on) others for this Yaqeen. Explain the greatness and power of Allah. To describe His Rububiyat (Allah’s power to sustain and control) we have to relate incidents from the lives of the prophets and the Sahaba.

We have to think about it in solitude and get this Yaqeen to enter our hearts.

We must cry and beg Allah to grant us the reality of this Yaqeen.

#2 – Salat

We have been given the gift of Salat (prayers) so that we can derive benefit directly from Allah SWT. We use every part of the body from head to foot with great humility according to a specified way that pleases Allah SWT. In Salat, we make proper use of the eye, ears, hands, feet, tongue, etc and our thoughts and hearts are filled with the fear of Allah SWT. We should believe that if our body parts in my Salat are following the order of Allah, Allah will enable us to receive rewards more valuable than the entire universe. If we stretch out our hands to supplicate with this Yaqeen (conviction), then Allah will fulfil all our needs from his unlimited power. With such salaat Allah will forgive our sins. He will grant abundance in our sustenance and ability to obey him. To learn such salaat:

Invite others to perform salaat with such concentration and devotion. Explain to them the benefits of performing such a Salat in this life and the hereafter. Mention examples of the Salat of the prophet SAW and his companions.

Practise and improve our own Salat. Perform Wudhu (ablution) with great care. Maintain concentration in standing, sitting and in Rukoo and sajdah.

After Salat we should humble ourselves, thinking that our Salaat was not befitting to be presented to the kings of all the kings. We should cry and reflect upon this and ask Allah to grant us the true reality of Salat.

#3 – Ilm and Zikr

The purpose of knowledge is to create within us the love to do good A’maal (action) and know what Allah desires from us at any particular time and condition. Whoever travels to learn the Deen (Islam), his entire journey is counted as an Ibadah (worship). Under the feet of this traveller, 70,000 angels spread their wings. The whole creation of the heavens and earth seeks forgiveness for such a traveller. One scholar is more difficult for satan than thousands of worshippers. To gain Ilm:

We should invite others to seek Ilm, by describing its virtues.

We should sit in the circles of Ta’leem (teaching and learning) and visit the scholars. We should regard this act as an Ibadah too.

We should cry and ask Allah for the reality of Ilm.

Zikr is to create the remembrance of Allah in every action. Whoever remembers Allah, Allah remembers him. Allah remains with the person for as long as his tongue continues to move in the Zikr of Allah. Allah grants him his love and recognition. Allah’s zikr is a fortress for protection from Satan. To obtain the Zikr of Allah:

We should encourage others to do the Zikr of Allah.

We should remember Allah with deep concentration, thinking that Allah is watching us.

We should supplicate to Allah, crying and begging that Allah please grant us the reality of Zikr.

Why are Ilm and Zikr combined?

According to Maulana Yusuf (The second Ameer of Tabligh), Ilm and Zikr are combined because only through the quality of Zikr, A’mal (actions) can be done with the full consciousness and remembrance of Allah SWT.

#4 – Ikramul Muslimeen

We must respect all Muslims because they are the followers of the prophet SAW. We have to lower ourselves in front of them, fulfil their rights and not demand ours.

Whoever covers up the faults of other Muslims, Allah will cover up their faults. Allah will keep helping us as long as we are busy helping others. Whoever forgoes his rights, Allah will grant him a place in the centre of paradise. If anyone tolerates and humbles themselves for the sake of Allah, Allah will raise their honour. For this:

We should encourage others to respect fellow Muslims. Describe the value of a Muslim. Mention the incidents of exemplary behaviour of the prophet SAW and his companions.

We should practise Ikramul Muslimeen ourselves.

We should ask and cry to Allah SWT to grant us the good character, compassion and selfless nature of the prophet SAW.

#5 – Ikhlas

Every action of ours should only be for the pleasure of Allah SWT. We should not do anything for material gain or fame. A minor action with the pure intention to please Allah will attract great rewards. However, an action with wrong intentions, despite how great it is, will be a reason for the punishment of Allah SWT. To improve our Ikhlas:

We should invite others towards Ikhlas and raise their interest and concern for the correction of intentions.

We should practise Ikhlas by checking our intention before, during and after every action, that we are doing this only to please Allah SWT.

After completing an action, we should think that our intentions were faulty and cry to Allah SWT, asking Him to grant us Ikhlas.

#6 Da’wah and Tabligh

As there are no more prophets to come, the responsibility for the effort of Da’wah falls upon the Ummah. We should make an effort so that everybody gets closer to Allah SWT. For this, we have to spend our life and wealth, and not expect anything in return from those whom we are giving Da’wah to. We have to go out in the path of Allah and help others who are in the path of Allah as well.

He, who shows compassion to others, is shown compassion from the creator. Allah will grant the reality of Iman and A’mal to those who make an effort to bring people closer to Him. To go out in His path for a morning or an evening is better than the entire universe and all that it contains (referring to both material wealth and spiritual deeds). Rewards for the money spent and Salat, Zikr etc. are multiplied 700,000 times in the path of Allah. The supplications of those going out in the path of Allah are accepted like the prophets of the Bani Israel. These are the prophets who Allah responds to their Du’a with unseen help which are usually against the apparent means. If the effort of Da’wah is made worldwide, Allah SWT will bring changes in the hearts of all human beings worldwide as a result. To achieve this:

We should encourage others to do this effort. Show them its importance and virtues. Mention to them incidents of the prophets and the Sahaba.

We should be involved in this effort with Sacrifice, Hijrah (i.e. by going out in the path of Allah) and Nusrah (i.e. by helping those that are in the path of Allah). The Sahaba used to go out in the path of Allah in every condition: At the time of nikah, heat, cold, hunger, poor, health or illness, strong or weak, young or old.

We should ask and cry to Allah to accept us for this great effort. To learn this work, every brother is asked to give four months no matter what condition of life he is in. We will thus leave our homes, jobs and businesses to spend time giving Da’wah for these qualities to be practised, going from town to town, state to state, country to country.

Maulana Saad started his education at Madrasa Kasiful Uloom, Nizamuddin Markaz, India, in 1987.
The title “Maulana” generally refers to a qualified A’alim. However, despite not being an A’alim, he is still being called a “Maulana” due to his respected position.

Maulana Saad’s Character

Maulana Saad is known to be a persuasive public speaker. His speeches would garner attention as it is generally mixed with simple but direct points which at times would be controversial (See: list of Maulana Saad’s Controversial Speeches).

Maulana Saad is also a hot-tempered person. He would often display his anger publicly. His lack of good character has been documented in Ahwal Wa Atsar by Maulana Shahed Saharanpuri who was a long time residence in Nizamuddin Markaz. Maulana Shahed was also the grandson of Shaykul Hadith Maulana Zakariyya and the son-in-law of Maulana Inamul Hassan (the previous Ameer of Tablighi Jamaat)

The following are some incidents mentioned in the book:

#1 Maulana Saad claims that Maulana Zakariyya and Inaamul Hassan are the enemies of Da’wa

Maulana Saad’s father, Maulana Haroon was the maternal grandson of Maulana Zakariyya Kandhlawi. Maulana Inamul Hasan who was the third Ameer of Tabligh and was the brother in law of Maulana Yusuf (the second Ameer and grandfather of Maulana Saad).

Yet, despite these close family ties, after the demise of Maulana Inamul Hasan in 1995, Maulana Saad would othen say:

The enemies of Da’wa are two: Maulana Zakariyya because he did not make my father Ameer; and Maulana Inamul Hasan.

Maulana Saad (Ahwal Wa Atsar, p425)

Maulana Saad later realized the toxicity and danger of his words. He would later stop criticizing Maulana Zakariyya and would only criticize Maulana Inamul Hasan instead.

#2 Maulana Saad throws a tantrum when asked to share Musafaha (farewell handshaking ceremony)

It is a Sunnah (tradition) of the holy prophet SAW that before Da’wa parties were to depart, a Musafaha (farewell handshaking ceremony) was to be conducted. In the 2014 Bhopal Ijtema, it was decided that he and Maulana Zuhair were to conduct the Musafaha ceremony together.

Maulana Saad did not like this at all. He felt that it should be him alone that should conduct the ceremony. He walked off the stage during the ceremony attended by a million people and expressed his anger towards to Ijtema Shura committee.

#3 Maulana Saad disrespects his teacher and most senior elder in Nizamuddin

Maulana Yaqub was the most experienced worker and teacher in Nizamuddin. He was not only the teacher of Maulana Saad but the teacher of Maulana Saad’s father as well.

Once, with full disrespect, Maulana Saad looked directly into Maulana Yaqub’s eyes and scolded him in front of everyone:

“What do you know about the work of Da’wa? I am doing the work here!”

Once, in a Bayan (public speech), Maulana Saad made a scoffing remark to Maulana Yaqub, as Maulana Yaqub denied his Emirate (leadership). Maulana Saad said: “That person who said there is no Amir (referring to Maulana Yaqub), is Majnun (Crazy). There is no Amir here except me.”

In August 2016, Maulana Yaqub wrote a letter explaining the 2014 Tablighi Jamaat Crisis.

#4 Maulana Saad tells the senior elders of Nizamuddin to go to hell

On one occasion, Maulana Saad was so angry at a group of elders for not accepting his leadership that he told them all to “go to Jahannam(Hell)”.

#5 Maulana Saad occasionally expresses anger and sometime insults to his followers

During his speeches, Maulana Saad has been known to express anger towards his listeners especially those who use mobile phones during his speech.

Maulana Saad was appointed to the World Shura at a young age

In 1993, at the age of 29, a young Maulana Saad was appointed into the World Shura, the highest council in Tablighi Jamaat. The purpose of the World Shura was to assist the Ameer of Tablighi Jamaat. At that time, the Ameer was Maulana Inamul Hasan.

After Maulana Inamul Hasan passed away, the World Shura decided in a 1995 agreement that there would be no more Ameer but a rotating Faisal (deciding Chair person) during the Shura meetings instead. The rotating Faisal would emulate the role of an Ameer. Since there was no formal Ameer, the agreement also ceased the practice of Bay’ah (the pledge of allegiance to the Ameer).

Maulana Saad takes control of the Markaz Treasury

In August 1996, Maulana Izharul Hasan, who was in charge of the Nizamuddin Markaz’s finances passed away. Maulana Saad took over the Markaz’s treasury and finances. Until now, the financial accounts of Nizamuddin Markaz are only known to Maulana Saad and have never been audited.

Maulana Saad has never spent time in Jamaat

One of the key elements of the Tablighi Jamaat movement is to go on Da’wa missions or ‘Jamaats’. These Jamaats are typically organized in 3 days, 40 days or 4 months missions. Each members are encouraged to embark on these missions periodically.

After being appointed to the World Shura, Maulana Saad has never spent any time in Jamaat until today. This was testified by many including Haji Abdul Wahab Sahab who was the Ameer of Pakistan and a World Shura member as well.

Maulana Saad declares himself the new Ameer (Leader) violating the 1995 agreement

Maulana Saad assumed himself as the new Ameer(leader) of Tabligh in 2014 by initiating Bay’ah (pledge of allegiance) to himself. This move was highly criticized as it violated the 1995 Shura agreement, which stipulated there would be no more Bay’ah and no more Ameer.

The World Shura rejected his move to be the new Ameer

In November 2015, the World Shura met in Raiwind, Pakistan. At that time the World Shura had recently lost its third member (Maulana Zubairul Hassan). Only Haji Abdul Wahab and Maulana Saad was the remaining member left.

During the World Shura meeting, Haji Abdul Wahab was the Faisal (deciding chairman) at that time. Maulana Saad’s declaration as the new Ameer was not accepted. The World Shura was expanded with new members added. The new appointment included Maulana Ibrahim Dewla and Maulana Yaqub.

The decision to expand the World Shura enraged Maulana Saad as he did not want to work in a Shura but wanted to be the new Ameer.

Maulana Saad closes down the Markaz in protest

Upon returning from Pakistan, Maulana Saad protested the meeting’s decision and closed down the Nizamuddin Markaz (in India) for local Jamaats. For almost one month, the Markaz was quiet with only foreigners attending.

Maulana Saad creates his offshoot Tablighi Jamaat Faction

In December 2015, Maulana Saad created his own Shura where he was the sole Ameer and rejected the existing World Shura.

Since the World Shura was the recognized body as per the 1995 agreement, Maulana Saad has thus broken himself away from mainstream Tablighi Jamaat.

Maulana Saad attempts to disunite Tablighi Jamaat Worldwide

Maulana Saad began to seize control of various Tablighi Jamaat Halaqas (units) in India and worldwide by appointing his loyalists and demoting those who were against him. He sent many Jamaats worldwide to propagate his version of the story creating a slew of disagreements and disuniting Tablighi Jamaat worldwide.

Those who were not in line with him were asked to leave their respected Markazs worldwide.

They wanted Tablighi Jamaat to continue as usual and were hopeful that Maulana Saad would eventually come to his senses and the situation would resolve by itself.

All hopes to mediate were lost when Maulana Saad resorted to violence

On the 19th of June 2016, on the night of the 13th Ramadhan, a group of Maulana Saad’s 100-150 fanatics stormed Nizamuddin Markaz and severely assaulted anyone who was not in line with him.

14 people were rushed to the ICU including the well-respected Maulana Ahmad Madhi, who was a close companion (Khadim) of Maulana Inaamul Hassan (The third Ameer of Tabligh).

Almost all the elders including members of the World Shura left the very next day. This incident ended all hopes for mediation.

The brutal incident was reported all over the news.
Maulana Saad’s networth is estimated to be USD $270 Million Dollars (₹2000 Crore Indian Rupees). This is based on a 2020 reports, following the Nizamuddin COVID 19 Hotspot investigation, where Maulana Saad himself admitted (to the enforcement agencies) that he has assets worth USD $270 Million Dollars (₹2000 Crore Indian Rupees).

Maulana Saad Money Laundering Investigation

Maulana Saad came under scrutiny after a large religious congregation was held at Delhi’s Nizamuddin Markaz in March 2020. The event became a COVID-19 hotspot, prompting the Delhi Police to file a First Information Report (FIR) against him on March 31, 2020.

He was later booked under serious charges, including culpable homicide not amounting to murder. This criminal case became the predicate for financial probes into Saad’s activities.

See Article: Maulana Saad’s Money Laundering Case

Maulana Saad and Deoband

Maulana Saad’s ideologies have been openly criticized by Darul Uloom Deoband.

The first-ever criticism of Maulana Saad’s speech came in the form of a letter from Maulana Muhammad Ishaq Utarwi in 2001. Maulana Ishaq claimed that Maulana Saad’s manner of speech is no longer in line with how the previous elders used to deliver lectures.

On 28th November 2016, Darul Uloom Deoband issued its first stance (Mawqeef) or Fatwa on Maulana Saad.

Following the Fatwa, Maulana Saad accused Deoband of being against the work of Da’wa but at the same time started a Rujoo process. Maulana Saa’s Rujoo was found to be deficient and was rejected by Darul Uloom Deoband in January 2018.

In June 2023, Deoband released a more lengthy fatwa on Maulana Saad. The 27-page fatwa delves in great detai why they believe Maulana Saad has deviated from the Ahlus Sunnah. In summary:

It is not permissible to propagate Maulana Saad’s views and ideologies by any means.

Those who are defending him are regrettable. They will be answerable to Allah SWT for their actions.

Due to his popularity in India, Maulana Saad seems no longer interested in making amends with the Darul Ulooms. He continued to persist in controversial statements until today.

In 2025, Mufti Abul Qasim nomani, in a recorded statment said that Maulana Saad’s Bayans are “even worse than before”.

Since it is inappropriate for Maulana Saad to speak about himself directly or ask others to obey him as the Ameer, he uses such people to do so.

Where is Maulana Saad now?

As of 2024, Maulana Saad currently resides in his second home in Nizamuddin Markaz, Delhi.
